Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve is located in the San Luis Valley, in Colorado. The park contains the tallest sand dunes in North America, rising about 750 feet from the floor of the San Luis Valley. Researchers say that the dunes started forming less than 440,000 years ago. [1]
We spend Labor day weekend in Crestone, CO area and visited sand dunes. They were beautiful to see. We hiked up to the top of the dunes and slided back.
