Even though legally part of New Orleans, Louisiana, Venetian Isles has always had an apparance of a small fishing town. It is separated from the city by miles of undeveloped land. Bayou Sauvage National Wildlife Refuge is located there.
At the end of 20th century, there was some suburban development in Venetian Isles but a lot of houses still have a direct access to the water.

On a sunny day like today, we decided to go fishing.
And here is our first catch. We think it was a mullet so we let it go.
