Colorado

We really enjoy living and exploring Colorado.

Hiking has always been one of our favorite activities. Here is what we have done so far:
We love going to the moutains. One of our favorite drives is to Mount Evans. We have visited stes Park, Glenwood Springs, Vail, Steamboat Springs. We camped at Stillwater Campground in Granby. We corrs country skied in Nederland.

Washington Park is our favorite park in Denver and Red Rocks is the BEST music venue.

Also, we took a trip to Great Sand Dunes National Park.

We visited Buffalo Bill Museum in Golden and Deborah Butterfield exhibition in Denver Botanical garden.






Things to do:

  • Devil’s Head Fire Lookout (0.5 hrs)- This moderately challenging mile-plus uphill hike near Sedalia concludes with a wonderful reward, as you are treated to breathtaking panoramic views and a visit to the historic Devil’s Head Fire Lookout. Built in 1912 and still actively patrolled, the lookout station serves as a landing to take in the forest of Ponderosa Pines and Douglas-firs with views of the famous Devil’s Head rock outcropping.
  • St. Mary’s Glacier (1 hr) 
  • The Incline in Monitou Springs, CO - 1 hr
  • CHAUTAUQUA PARK - hiking next to Boulder - great for kids
  • Eldorado Canyon - hiking and pool
  • Rocky Mountain Dinasour center - Colorado Springs
  • paint mines interpretive park (1h) - All of the trails take you to the same location. Rich in both animal and plant life, the park has overhangs, spires, carved walls, and chasms. There are colors such as golden yellow, rose pink, snowy white, and mauve. Natives used the deposits for pottery.
  • Boulder Falls
  • Roxborough State Park South Rim Trail - For viewing wildlife (black bears, mule deer, red foxes, bobcats, and golden eagles), dramatic rock formations, and indigenous plants and flowers, this Littleton park just south of Denver delivers. With six distinctive trails representing easy to moderate hikes at Roxborough State Park, the South Rim Trail boasts easy access from the visitor’s center and delightful natural encounters along its three-mile unpaved path.
  • Snowmass Lake - near Aspen 
  • Wheeler Geological Area - 4 hr - near Creede CO
  • Mesa Verde (8 hours)
  • Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument (2 hours) - This fascinating monument is a portion of an ancient lakebed that has preserved almost in its entirety an ecosystem that existed 35 million years. DON'T MISS: Petrified Forest Walk, a one-mile trail that passes massive, petrified Redwood stumps, an historic excavation site, and a geologic timeline exhibit.
  • Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park (5 hours) offers many hiking trails, including one that takes you down the 2,000-foot high gorge to the river at the bottom.
